Our music would be nothing without the guidance and leadership of our Musical Director

Fiona Glen B.A. Music; Grad Dip.Ed.
Fiona grew up on the Sunshine Coast and began teaching woodwind to private students in 1990. She has been teaching, conducting and performing mainly in Brisbane since graduating at QUT with her Music and Teaching degree in 1998. She also spent 2, 2-year stints teaching and performing in Vanuatu, before returning to the Sunshine Coast in 2011.
Fiona’s love of music started in 1983, picking up her sister’s clarinet and annoying her greatly by refusing to give it back when she needed to practise! Thankfully Fiona lived to tell the tale of sibling rivalry and learnt to play the saxophone professionally and all band instruments to a high level, as well as some guitar and piano.
Her career has taken her playing and singing in many professional ensembles, ranging from Rock Bands, to Jazz Vocal Groups, to a Medieval Ensemble, to playing tuba in a Brass Band. She has played in musicals, recorded for radio and performed both around Australia and abroad. She has conducted school ensembles, Community Ensembles and assisted with musicals.
She now divides her time as a stay-at-home mum, teaching Instrumental Music in schools, conducting and being a ukulele and guitar-playing wedding singer.
Fiona's aim is to impart a lifelong love of music to children and adults alike. She has been enjoying conducting Buderim Concert Band since April 2014 and loves their sense of humour and musicality. She encourages everyone young or old to come along and play hard and have some fun!

The Buderim Concert Band would like to acknowledge and thank the Buderim Foundation for their sponsorship for the purchase of glockenspiel and new music. Without their support the band would not be able to present quality music for the public.

The members of the Buderim Concert Band enjoy performing a wide variety of music - some big band, some modern classics, some film music, some adaptions of classical works, some traditional Australian music and so on. Our collection of scores ranges in difficulty from Level 2 to Level 4 and less experienced musicians are encouraged to take the more difficult selections home for personal practice and skill development. All members are encouraged but not pressured to improve their skills in a lifetime of learning.

The Band updates its repertoire every term and may introduce other items in accordance with performance requirements.
